QUESTIONS????? THIS IS MY OPINION, AND MINE ALONE......

My daughter goes to a Church of England School near our home.  This school is over the road from its church and the children spend quite a lot of time doing church activities.

A lot of the children are quite ambivilent towards the so called workings in the bible, the ones that they are tought at school.  To put it bluntly a lot of the children, not all of them of course, do not know whether to believe in God, or that Jesus did actually exist.

JESUS.......

this is probably the defining image that we all associate with Jesus.  I attended Sunday School as a child and I was given a bible at an early age.  My mother used to constantly rattle on about God and Jesus and was indeed a church goer herself until her father died at a young age.  This changed her mind so she then held the view that if God or Jesus existed then nothing would ever go wrong in the world or nothing bad would ever happen.  This is obviously not the case and me, now, as a 44 year old woman and mother knows that for sure.

I used to love reading the stories in the bible not with a viewpoint of them being true, but just because they were good stories to read.

Jesus was born to a mother and father, Mary and Joseph, and he became a hero, a superhero my three year old would probably describe him.  This is no different to the birth of Superman who was obviously a fictional character.  He helped the poor, healed the wounded and was an overall good guy.  Well we obviously have people like this now.  We have charity workers who are not rich themselves, they work tirelessly for the poor giving up lots of valuable time.  We have wonderful talented doctors and nurses who work so hard to save people every day of the week, modernday real superheros.  We have soldiers out in Afghanistan trying to keep the cities of this country free from terrorism, who lose their lives on what seems like a daily basis.  What Jesus did does not compare to this.

I think Jesus did exist.  I think he was a very confident, outgoing, media hungry person who wanted to be in the limelight.  Nowadays, people in general attack these sorts of people.  They build them up to knock them down.  The tabloids do this on a daily basis.

three examples of people in the public eye, and followed  by millions....... was Jesus one of these people thousands of years ago???

Thank you Grandma and Grandad

BYE BYE CHRISTMAS, HELLO NEW YEAR

Well, today was officially the first day back at work after the Christmas holiday.  My little one and I took the decorations down and dusted and hoovered.  Taking the decorations down really exposes the plain atmosphere this creates.  Some people say the place looks bare and dull, if you are like me and like the mininal look then the place looks fantastic.....

My little girl did not like the decorations coming down.  Each time something was packed away she said "say yes mummy, say yes, can we keep it up, please say yes" so we compromised.......

lights under the front window (sorry about the glass in the front of the photo, it is water though)

she still thinks it is Christmas..... lovely.

Oh they have definately got this one wrong.......

Since Eastenders started to run the story about Ronnie losing her baby to cot death, then switching her dead baby for a neighbours live baby and living with the consequences of her actions, I have been trying to decide whether to watch this "story" unfold or not to bother.

The story is also being told from the side of the so called behreaved parents and the mother who has actually lost her baby.

This must be so difficult for the mothers and fathers out there who have lost babies to cot death.  It seems that this story has been trivialised and sensationalised to boost the viewing figures of this depressing soap opera.  Could both women not have enjoyed their babies in this programme?  If just one of these writers had lost a baby to cot death, this story would not have happened.

A NEW ADDITION TO OUR FAMILY

I hope everyone had a very merry christmas and has an equally joyous new year.

Yes, we have a new addition, well two new additions to our family.....

Yes, you guessed.....

the Charlie and Lola DVD Box Set, belonging to the youngest member of our family.

Charlie and Lola are a great addition.  I am having a lazy Christmas Thursday today, no washing, no housework.... no..... well no nothing!!!  So I am sat at the dining room table, doing some computer things and Charlie and Lola are on in the background.  Little one was watching until a little while ago when she disappeared upstairs with big sister.  It did enter my head to go and switch this DVD off and catch up on the news or the sports news, but alas, I hesitated and Charlie and Lola remain in my lounge.

Ian went out for a walk this morning and bought me a lovely selection of flowers to cheer the house up..  thank you.

I did think this Christmas break would be a little tedious having four days off in total but I suppose it has been a nice rest.  We did venture out on Tuesday to a department store called John Lewis.  You could probably call this a "high end" store with lots of home furnishings, crockery, cutlery, knitting and sewing things, toys etc and quite a nice coffee shop.  It was packed full of ignorant people, of all ages I might add, pushing and shoving, reaching in front of you..... it was well, hellish.....

and finally....... congratulations to the England cricket team on their win down under.....
